Fic Recs

Tma has a lot of really good time travel fics, because so much of the plot is knowledge-based. Here are some of my favorites:

Reflection by LazuliQuetzal-

My FAVORITE time travel fic! takes place when Jon was just a researcher, and keeps seeing a freaky monster version of himself that seems invisible to everyone else. Future Jon keeps trying to give him advice, and everything goes horribly wrong.

This, alone by evanescent_jasmine-

Its a set-up seen in a lot of time travel fics: Martin is sent back to a different timeline, with Jon explaining to him he needs to help them. But Martin gets to Alternate universe Martin’s flat, he finds him dead and covered in worms. And then the door back to Jon's world won’t open. And he finds a tape of Jon apologizing. Looks like he’s stuck- but at least no one has realized the other Martin is dead, so he can take over his life. Haha angst time :) I'm sure Tim especially won't be freaked out by someone else replacing his coworker.

A Little Game of Cat and Mouse by Paptato-

My second favorite time travel fic! Jon decides to pull a terminator and time travels back to before Jonah began the institute and kill him. However, the web keeps preventing him from killing Magnus. How could he stay close to his target? Maybe by accepting a new job as archivist lol.

Beneath the Stains of Time by paperdream-

Daisy’s memories are sent back in time, but they’re a bit vague. Confused and very much an avatar of the hunt, She accidentally kidnaps Jon. Whoops? Mind the tags on this one lol.

Apple of Your Eye by FakeCRfan-

The Beholding is in love with Martin. It goes off the rails, and every chapter I’m like “well at least it won’t get worse” and then it gets Worse. Really great stuff! I didn't care for how Jmart was handled in season 5 of the show, and this really scratched that itch.

The (Attempted) Assassination(s) of Daisy Tonner by the Coward Jonathan Sims by Yellow_Caballero

Posted before and set during season 5, it has Daisy and Jon roadtripping across an apocalyptic America to get to Disneyland. Jon is amnesiac and blindfolded for most of it, which is pretty fun. I've re-read this one a normal amount.

The Kindness of Strangers by theOestofOCs

Remember when Jon was kidnapped and lotioned by clowns for a month? Yeah what if Tim was also there. Thats it thats the fic, 10/10 no notes.

Lowkey my favorite Beauty and the Beast retelling ever.

IF YOU SHOULD BEG by hamletmustdie

I always love it when people include stuff from the unreleased episodes in their fics- Dib learns the truth about how he was made, on his birthday, and gets stranded on an alien planet while Zim goes crazy from malware. Very fun time.

Bitter End by Lael Adair

If you liked the zimvoid arc from the comics you will like this. That's all I will say. (can be read on fanfiction.net)

I really liked the movie ok.

Free from Fire by JedTree

Eddie and Venom separate while on the run from the russian mob. Fic takes advantage of the fact that Venom is a body-hopping alien as he desperatly tries to find Eddie, and switches to different hosts. Very fun, just make sure to mind the tags.

House Hunters by Warbles

This one is adorableee. After the ship crashes, Eddie loses his apartment and moves in with Ms. Chen for a bit. He is in his mourning era lol.

Forest of Nightmares by Fantastically_Anonymous

After a plane crash, they starve in the woods for a bit and look for civilization.

How I met my Brother and Regretted Everything by Prince_of_Trash

Ok technically this follows Sleeper, their symbiote kid from the comics BUT ITS SO GOOD AND FUNNY. SO YOU SHOULD READ IT. YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE COMICS. Sleeper breaks Carnage out of prison and goes to space to try to chuck him at Galactus. The characterization for both of them is incredible and the shenanigans are peak.

Ok there is only really two fics I wanna talk about here:

Animal, Vegetable, Mineral series by Stilitana

Theeeeee ihnmaims continuation. to me. Ted is so in-character I want to hit him over the head with a big hammer. Also, it takes a lot of inspiration from the psycho-dramas from the video game!

Oderint Dum Metuant by HolyFrickenMoly

Watch the tags!!! Hahaha this one is so fucked up its wonderful. You can literally see the knots Ted has to tie himself into because both him and AM want to keep playing house- but deep down they both know they're only playing. Ted won't ask for what he wants, and hides in fantasy, but AM can literally pluck said fantasies out of his head and make them real- there really isn't any escape.
